Swan Group informs stakeholders that it has experienced a cyber security incident on a restricted part of its IT systems and we are of the view that it is reasonably likely that there has been access to data belonging to Swan.
Evidence available demonstrates that customer and policyholder financial interests are unaffected as the incident impacted systems that are separate from our core systems, billing systems, or financial services infrastructure. We confirm that credentials used by our customers and policyholders to access our services remain secure. We further confirm that there has been no encryption of data on our systems nor any disruption of our operations which are running optimally and smoothly.
We have detected a cyber security incident on certain secondary Swan ICT systems, separate from our core operating information infrastructure.
In accordance with our information security protocols, we immediately took steps to contain any potential impact on our systems and engaged cybersecurity experts to assist us in responding to and investigating the incident. While the investigation into the potential impact on data is ongoing, we believe it is reasonably likely that some data has been accessed.
Operations were never disrupted and we continue to service our customers as normal.
This communication mainly serves to inform you of the potential impact of the incident and steps you can take to protect yourself.
We are currently undertaking a detailed investigation, with the support of international experts, into the nature and extent of the data accessed. This may potentially include underwriting and claims information, personal identification, contact details and accounting and portfolio information stored by Swan.
The incident is contained, and we remain vigilant and are closely monitoring all systems. We continue to implement further measures to enhance the security of our network, systems and data.
We are assisted by our experts in this matter and are working closely with the relevant authorities.
